Description

Lab technician responsible for experiments in rubber compounding, processing and testing. Which require a good understanding of rubber materials, rubber compounding and processing methods and tests related to applications. Also supporting other laboratory work for the Flexsys tire additives business.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintains and advances a safe laboratory environment. Creates and updates safety documentation and ensures hazard communication. Actively participate in safety-focused activities and seek out opportunities to advance our safety culture.
• Conduct rubber compounding and other technical experiments:

1. Operate all essential rubber processing equipment, mainly including mixer, extruder, open mill, Compression molding press, specimen cutting press…
2. Hands-on rubber compound mixing, calendaring, curing, cutting, and sample preparation work according to standard operation process.
3. Plans and conducts experimental work to safely meet objectives and timelines.
4. Management of experimental raw materials, like NR/SBR/BR, Carbon black, Silica, antioxidant, accelerants…

• Equipment management work

1. Conduct preventive maintenance of responsible equipment.
2. Troubleshoot problems related to rubber processing or testing equipment. Find the root cause and propose actionable improvement. May work with external vendors.
3. Equipment annual maintenance and calibration work. May work with external vendors.

• Prepares appropriate reports and presentations documenting work, test results, and conclusions.

Education

• High school degree or colleague degree

Experience/Skills

• Understanding of rubber compounding, laboratory equipment, testing methods, and safety practices.
• Strong analytical, observation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to draw conclusions from experimental work and propose methods to improve.
• Basic reading, written, and communication skills.
